Things don’t bode well for the new Caldera map for Call Of Duty: Warzone, as the Secrets Of The Pacific preview event causes chaos.
The idea was that Secrets of the Pacific would ease players into the upcoming new makeover for Warzone, which will see the introduction of the new Caldera map and the integration of the Second World War themed Vanguard with the free-to-play battle royale.
Things haven’t exactly gone to plan though, with players reporting widespread technical problems, which in some cases have led to constant crashes that have made it impossible to even get into the games.
As a result, developer Sledgehammer has had to disable the event entirely. They have been praised for acting quickly, as it took them barely more than 10 minutes from first being altered of the problem to closing the event down.
The 2XP multiplayer promotion is still running but everything else is currently still switched off, with no indication of when it will come back.
Sledgehammer has tried to reassure fans that progress with the Secrets of the Pacific challenges will not be lost, so you can continue from where you were when it comes back. Although at the moment there’s no indication of when that might be.
Call Of Duty has had the slowest sales of any entry in the modern era of the series but that’s despite the fact that it’s reviewed relatively well and, at least until now, has suffered none of the technical problems, or complaints about missing features, as rival Battlefield 2042.
That may mean Vanguard has healthier long-term prospects, although it’s still unclear how the ongoing controversies at publisher Activision may be affecting its sales.
