If you missed your chance to get an Xbox Series X at launch then Currys is going to have more in stock this afternoon – but not for long.
The PlayStation 5 launch last week went about as well as expected, in that there was no stock, scalpers got most of the consoles, and all but a lucky few were left feeling pretty upset by the whole circus.
It was the same deal for the Xbox Series X/S the week before but now one major UK retailer has announced they’ve got their second refill of stock in, and it’s going to be available to purchase today from 1pm.
Currys PC World has been sending out emails to existing customers warning them of the impending arrival of new stock, although with no indication of exactly how many they’ll have to sell.
Microsoft has previously warned that shortages for the Xbox Series X and S could last until April, although there’ll be a gradual improvement over that time and hopefully the consoles won’t be too hard to get hold of by early spring.
Although the next gen consoles won’t be discounted, more stock is expected during Black Friday at the end of this week, although it’s mostly American retailers that have been hinting about that so it’s not clear if anyone other than Currys will get more in the UK.
Shortages such as this are commonplace for any new console but they’ve been made worse this time because of the coronavirus, the fact that the Xbox launch occurred simultaneously worldwide, and the increasing sophistication of scalpers who buy up stock before regular customers ever get a chance.
Scalpers are certainly likely to be a problem this afternoon, so if you want an Xbox Series X make sure you’re ready at exactly 1pm or you may miss out.
Have Fun ^_^
