GTA Online style heists are destined to become a part of Cyberpunk 2077, according to dataminers who have combed through the game’s code.
It’s obvious what the priorities are going to be at the moment for CD Projekt, who would come under serious criticism if they started talking about new features for Cyberpunk 2077 while the game still needs patching.
At some point those new features will arrive though and since multiplayer modes have already been promised it’s no surprise to find references to them already in the game’s code.
According to DSOGaming the current version of the game references both Deathmatch multiplayer and a co-op heist mode that is assumed to be similar to GTA Online.
The heist seems like it will involve pre-set character classes, but the only other detail at the moment is that the game will use P2P (peer-to-peer) connections for its multiplayer.
Datamining like this isn’t a question of truthfulness – the references are there for anyone to see – but, much like patents, whether they’re still relevant and will actually be used by the developers.
That’s impossible to tell but CD Projekt has certainly confirmed that the game will be getting multiplayer options, although they’ve more recently suggested this will be a separate game.
The datamined references don’t necessarily refute that, as even if it is destined for a standalone release CD Projekt are likely to experiment with the base game as well.
Or it could be that the base game will get some minor multiplayer options of its own, to make up for the fact that the standalone version isn’t now due until 2023.
CD Projekt has promised more information before the end of March, although whether that will include any footage or detailed descriptions remains to be seen.
Have Fun ^_^
