Just weeks from release, CD Projekt has finally shown footage of Cyberpunk 2077 running on Xbox One, but not either PlayStation.
If things had gone to plan Cyberpunk 2077 would be out tomorrow and yet incredibly we still haven’t seen any footage of it running on anything but a PC… until last night.
Even then CD Projekt only showed it running on an Xbox One X and Xbox Series X, but not a standard Xbox One or any model of PlayStation.
You can imagine they didn’t do that by accident, which, given those are the two most powerful consoles of their respective generations, only reinforces rumours that CD Projekt is having trouble getting the game running on some formats.
The choice of consoles doesn’t seem to be a marketing decision – there are no exclusivity deals for either console – but it means that PlayStation owners are now unlikely to see the game running on their console before it’s released, and certainly wouldn’t of if it came out on time.
That said, Microsoft were peculiarly reticent about showing much in the way of gameplay footage before the Xbox Series X launched, with companies increasingly expecting customers to buy their products on little more than good faith and marketing.
Thanks to The Witcher 3 though CD Projekt are one of the most trusted companies in the business at the moment and the footage certainly does look very good.
You can definitely see the difference in quality between the Xbox One X and Xbox Series X though, and it’s a little worrying that there aren’t many exterior shots to be seen.
The game will play better on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 from launch but dedicated next gen versions are not due out until sometime next year.
Cyberpunk 2077 will be released on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on November 10.
Have Fun ^_^
