There might not be any new Halo games on Xbox Series X this year but the ones that already exist will have never looked better.

According to a tweet from the head of Xbox marketing a new update for Halo: The Master Chief Collection will be released this year that runs the games at ‘up to 4K’.

The improvements will work across both the campaign and multiplayer modes of all the games, with this being the first time any of them have run at 120fps on a console.

Microsoft still isn’t able to deliver the changes in time for the Xbox Series X launch though, and the necessary patch won’t be released until a week later on November 17.

The Master Chief Collection contains all of the mainline Halo games up to the release of Halo 4, including Halo 3: ODST and Halo: Reach, which were not originally part of the collection.

Also promised for the Xbox Series X version are unspecified split screen improvements, cross-gen play, and an adjustable FOV (field of view).

All those improvements will also be available on the Xbox Series S, except for the resolution increase – as the cheaper model of console cannot run games at native 4K.

For those waiting for Halo Infinite, the game still does not have any firm release date, beyond sometime next year, but Xbox boss Phil Spencer did recently admit he was still considering releasing its story and multiplayer modes separately.

Have Fun ^_^
